Understanding Westlake Hills and Its Relationship with Austin

Westlake Hills is not a separate city from Austin. It is actually a city within the Austin metropolitan area, located in Travis County, Texas, USA.

Westlake Hills was incorporated as a city in 1953, and it has its own local government, including a mayor and city council. Despite being a separate municipality, Westlake Hills is still part of the Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area and shares many of the same resources and services as the city of Austin.

The confusion about whether Westlake Hills is a separate city from Austin may stem from the fact that it has a distinct identity and character, with its own unique mix of residential, commercial, and natural areas. However, it is still part of the larger Austin community, and its residents benefit from the many amenities and opportunities that come with being part of a major metropolitan area.
